VÅR HISTORIE

A little bit about us.

Lyst opened on a quiet stretch of Thorvald Meyers gate in the spring of 2019. Maja and Erik Lindqvist had spent the better part of a decade working in specialty coffee – Maja behind bars in Stockholm and Copenhagen, Erik roasting in Bergen – and wanted, finally, a place of their own.

The idea wasn't complicated. A neighbourhood café where the coffee is taken seriously and everyone feels welcome. Sourdough on the counter, ceramic cups, music low enough that you can actually talk. A spot you'd be quietly proud lived on your street.

We work with a small handful of roasters and farms we trust. The brunch menu changes with the seasons – sometimes weekly when the markets surprise us. The pastries are baked each morning by Erik before service. Nothing comes out of a freezer.

On Thursdays through Saturdays we open the cellar in the evenings. Natural wines, low intervention, mostly small European producers. Pour a glass, stay an hour. There's no rush – that's the whole point.

Meet Maja & Erik.

Maja Lindqvist

What we care about.

Direct trade coffee

We buy from a small group of farms and roasters we've known for years. We pay more, and we know exactly where it comes from.

Seasonal menu

The menu shifts with what the markets are doing. If asparagus is good this week, it's on the plate. If it isn't, it's not.

Grünerløkka first

We live in the neighbourhood. Our suppliers, bakers and friends are here. This café is for the people who walk by it.
